Ah, my Amazon order has arrived! Now in my possession:

The Age of American Unreason” by Susan Jacoby.

Good looking book. Hardback, 356 pages (index included) plus a nine-page introduction and a few notes pages.

And so starts the promised project. I intend to share my thoughts here on Jacoby’s take on the dumbing down of the United States. The book comprises 11 chapters plus a conclusion, so I propose 11 coming posts, one for each chapter.

Just to wet the palate, Here is the quote that she uses for the books opening:

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”
Thomas Jefferson, 1816

A bientôt…
